February 21, 2024Mouser Electronics, Inc., the New Product Introduction (NPI) leader™ empowering innovation, today announces that it is sponsoring a new electronics design competition presented by MacroFab, an operator of one of North America's largest technology platforms for electronics manufacturing. To speed time to market for its customers, MacroFab provides a software-driven approach to custom PCB design, prototyping and manufacturing.

In MacroFab's Food Device Design Derby Challenge, entrants will be tasked to create something that combines electronics with food, whether it's a gadget to enhance cooking skills, an automated herb garden, or sensors that let the user know when cooking is completed. Entrants are required to document their creation, including inspiration, design process, power requirements, and any source code and schematics. Entrants need to post their project on MacroFab's Circuit Break Discussion community site under the Contest Category. Then, upload it to MacroFab's platform and complete the Bill of Materials and specifications. Also, entrants should post in the Circuit Break discussion thread or on a public repository, such as GitHub, with all documentation so that the project is replicable.

The contest runs now until 8 AM CST, March 31, 2024. The first-place prize is $2,000; second-place winner receives $1,000; and third-place is $500. A special $2,000 prize will be awarded to the favorite entry of the Circuit Break Podcast. In addition, MacroFab will be giving away themed trophies and free prototyping worth up to $1,200. The contest has no age limit; however, anyone affiliated with MacroFab, Mouser Electronics, or the judges (or those related to them) is ineligible to participate.

Previous MacroFab design competitions sponsored by Mouser include the Useless Machine Challenge and the Blink an LED Contest.
