MCP6N16 Zero-Drift Instrumentation Amplifier
Microchip MCP6N16 Zero-Drift Instrumentation Amplifier features a self-correcting architecture that maximizes DC performance by providing ultra-low offset, low offset drift, and superior common-mode and power-supply rejection while eliminating the adverse effects of 1/f noise. The design ensures high accuracy in time and temperature. MCP6N16's two external resistors set the gain, minimizing gain error and drift over temperature. The reference voltage (VREF) shifts the output voltage (VOUT). Each device includes EMI filters at the input pins for superior EMI rejection (EMIRR). The low-power CMOS process technology enables low power consumption across a 500kHz bandwidth. A hardware-enabled pin provides additional power savings. MCP6N16's low-power operation and shutdown capability requires less current for the given speed and performance, which extends battery life and results in less self-heating. Additionally, MCP6N16's low 1.8V operation allows two dry-cell 1.5V batteries to be drained well beyond typical use. The device's rail-to-rail input and output operation enables full-range use even in low-supply conditions. This provides better performance across the entire operating voltage range.
