A narrow optic angle focuses light into the phototransistor die, resulting in higher light sensitivity and cutting off stray light from the side. The HST9 parts have a wide spectral range of sensitivity of 730nm to 1140nm with peak sensitivity at 940nm. HST6 peaks at 630nm.
