Analog Devices MAX17612A/MAX17612B/MAX17612C Adjustable Overvoltage and Overcurrent Protection ICs are in the Olympus series of ICs providing small and robust integrated system protection solutions. The devices are exceptional in protecting systems against positive and negative input voltage faults up to +60V and -65V. The Protection ICs offer an adjustable input overvoltage protection range of 5.5V to 60V and an adjustable input under-voltage protection range of 4.5V to 59V. The devices use external resistors to set the input overvoltage-lockout (OVLO) and under-voltage-lockout (UVLO) thresholds.

Additionally, the MAX17612A/MAX17612B/MAX17612C features an internal input under voltage threshold at 4.2V (typ.), and programmable current-limit protection up to 250mA. The programmable current-limit protection controls the inrush current at startup while charging high capacitances at the output. Programming the current-limit threshold is enabled by connecting a resistor from the SETI pin to GND. After reaching the programmed threshold, the device prevents further increases in current by modulating the FET resistance.

The Analog Devices MAX17612A/MAX17612B/MAX17612C exhibits three modes: Autoretry, Continous, or Latch-off. The MAX17612A and MAX17612C block current flowing in the reverse direction, while the MAX17612B allows current flow in the reverse direction. All three devices offer thermal shutdown protection against excessive power dissipation with an extended temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.
