Arduino WiFi Shield 101

Arduino WiFi Shield 101 is a powerful IoT shield with crypto-authentication to wirelessly connect an Arduino with ease. The WiFi Shield 101 is perfect for IoT projects and is developed with Atmel. No further configuration in addition to the SSID and the password are required when connecting to a WiFi network.

An easy-to-use library comes with the WiFi Shield 101 for connecting an Arduino or Genuino board to the internet with few instructions. Hardware, software and documentation are freely available and open-source to learn how the WiFi Shield 101 is made. Use the documentation as a starting point for new projects.

The WiFi Shield 101 is based on the Atmel SmartConnect-WINC1500 module that is compliant with the IEEE 802.11b/g/n standard. The WINC1500 module provided is a network controller capable of both TCP and UDP protocols. 

​The WiFi Shield 101 features a hardware encryption/decryption security protocol provided by the ATECC508A CryptoAuthentication chip. This chip provides an ultra-secure key agreement for encryption/decryption method, specifically designed for IoT.

Atmel SmartConnect-WINC1500 modules are optimized for battery powered Internet-of-Things (IoT) applications. WINC1500 provides UART, I²C and SPI peripheral interfaces and only requires a high-speed crystal oscillator.
Atmel ATECC508A
Atmel ATECC508A integrates an ultra-secure method called ECDH (Elliptic Curve Diffie–Hellman) security protocol to provide key agreement for encryption/decryption. The ATECC508A also features ECDSA (Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm) sign-verify authentication for Internet of Things (IoT) applications.
