NewAE Technology 87C51 UFO Target Board
NewAE Technology 87C51 UFO Target Board (CW308T-87C51) enables embedded security analysis testing on the Intel 87C51 in a PLCC44 package. UFO Target Boards are designed to mount onto the UFO Baseboard (CW308) for use with either the ChipWhisperer Pro (CW1200) or the ChipWhisperer-Lite (CW1173) Capture Tools. The included pre-programmed 87C51 device does AES Authentication, TEA authentication, password checks, and glitchable code. The 87C51 also features an XOR Encryption Table, which is used during code verification. This table has been pre-programmed with a known pattern. The 87C51 UFO Target Board also includes a Microchip Technology / Atmel ATMega co-processor, which provides the ability to perform reads on the device to experiment with attacks against the code verification and fuse bits.
The 87C51 UFO Target Board features two 20-pin headers on the top side of the board connected to the pins of the 87C51, breaking out all of the functional pins. These headers make connecting an oscilloscope or logic analyzer to the target easier. Jumpers are also provided to control the IO lines of the two microcontrollers.
The included 87C51 device is OTP (One Time Programmable), so it cannot be reused. The NewAE Technology 87C51 UFO Target Board can also be used with flashable Intel 89C51 PLCC44 devices. The 89C51 device requires an external programmer and does not offer XOR Encryption Table or ISP support.
Features
- Supports Intel 87C51 in a PLCC44 package
- AVR co-processor provides on-board read support to perform attacks on fuse bits and XOR table
- Provided OTP devices have the XOR encryption table enabled (but not fuse bits) to allow attacks on the XOR encryption table
- An example application for the 87C51 device allows the user to perform AES power analysis, XOR power analysis, glitch attacks, and more
- It also works with flashable 89C51 devices (requires an external programmer)
