onsemi FUSB380C Autonomous USB Type-C™ Cable Marker
onsemi FUSB380C Autonomous USB Type-C™ Cable Marker provides a turnkey solution with a small footprint and low power for passive Electronically Marked Cable Assemblies (EMCA). The FUSB380C eMarker IC provides the cable's characteristics to the Downstream-Facing Port (DFP). This device operates from VCONN power, and features a 28V tolerant VCONN and Configuration Channel (CC) to provide shorting protection to the VBUS. One FUSB380C IC can provide the electronic marking for passive EMCAs by routing VCONN through the Type-C cable. Two FUSB380C ICs can be used to bypass routing VCONN through the Type-C cable. The FUSB380C can be field-programmed via Vendor Defined Messages (VDM), and it can be re-programmed up to five times. The device's Discover Identity response can be fully customized for passive cables, with or without Modal support. The FUSB380C also offers the ability to program a Serial Number that can be read via a VDM-specific command.
The FUSB380C eMarker is offered in a compact, 12-bump Wafer Level Chip Scale Package (WLCSP) and is Pb-free, halogen-free, BFR-free, and RoHS-compliant.
