Texas Instruments OPT4041DTSEVM Sensor Evaluation Module (EVM)

Texas Instruments OPT4041DTSEVM Sensor Evaluation Module (EVM) is a platform for evaluating the performance of the OPT4041 dual-channel (visible and wideband), high-speed, high-precision digital ambient light sensor. The device is designed for various lighting conditions and behind-cover materials.

The Texas Instruments OPT4041DTSEVM consists of two printed circuit boards (PCBs). The first is the OPTMBEVM board that contains a USB interface to communicate with a computer running graphical user interface (GUI) evaluation software, a socket for plugging in a coupon board, and an MSP430 microcontroller that acts as a bridge between the PC and the device plugged into the socket. This board also provides power to the light sensor and sends and receives appropriate digital signals between the light sensor and the PC. The second board is the OPT4041 coupon board, which contains the OPT4041 and a decoupling capacitor. The coupon board plugs into the motherboard, allowing quick evaluation using the GUI software when plugged in, and allows the coupon to be removed for direct access to the device pins for evaluation in the user's system.
