Vishay Active Discharge Circuits for 800V Systems

Vishay Active Discharge Circuits for 800V Systems feature high pulse load surface-mounted wire-wound resistors, carbon film MELF resistors, and thick film technology resistors. This reference design follows the steps required to discharge a DC-link bus voltage of 850V to 60V in less than 2 seconds for a capacitor of 500µF. Additionally, for proper active discharge, it is required that the circuitry repeats the discharge process three times within 15 seconds, and these active discharge circuits from Vishay fulfill that requirement.
